7S - Workplace organization and standardisation

7S is a process of workplace organization and house keeping which is
carried out gradually and systematically.

7S stands for,


1. SORT (SEIRI)
2. SYSTEMATIZE / SET IN ORDER (SEITON)
3. SWEEP / SHINE (SEISO)
4. STANDARDISE (SEIKETSU)
5. SELF DISCIPLINE (SHITSUKE)
6. SAFETY
7. SAVE EARTH


Step 1 SEIRI (Segregate and Eliminate – SORT)
Clearly distinguish needed items from unnecessary items and eliminate
what is
not needed. (Separate needed items from un-needed items)


Step 2 SEITON (Arrange and Identify – SET IN ORDER)
Arrange needed items so that they can be found quickly by anybody.
(Place for
everything & every thing in its place)


Step 3 SEISO (Daily Cleanup Process – SHINE / SWEEP)
Create a spotless workplace. Cleaning & Dust removal around work
area. Every thing
around work area to be cleaned


Step 4 SEIKETSU (Constant Adherence to the First Three Steps –
STANDARDIZE)
Standardize cleanup activities so that these actions are specific and
Easy to perform.
Make everything standard that can be understand by
each and everyone.
Ex-Zebra tape, Yellow tape, Road signals etc….


Step 5 SHITSUKE (Achieve Habitual Compliance – SUSTAIN / SELF
DECIPLINE))
Promote adherence to maintaining a high performance & high quality.
Follow the Rules & Regulations of the Company.


Step 6 SAFETY (Creating accident free work place) Every one make
use of Personal
Protective equipments & make a safe work Environment.
Strict compliance to
Environmental policy


Step 7 SAVE EARTH (Do not harm our Environment)
Segregate the waste generated in line & do not Mix up
Hazard & Non hazard waste.
Save Natural resources like Water, Trees etc.
